CalMatters: California’s renewable energy targets slashed carbon pollution — now there’s a proposal to pause them

January 11, 2020

CalMatters’ Rachel Becker quotes me in a story on a great new report from Dr. Ross Brown at the California Legislative Analyst’s Office:

“Understanding why emissions fell — as well as what we don’t know — is critically important to the task of informing California’s pursuit of future climate targets,” Danny Cullenward, policy director at the climate change think-tank Near Zero, said in an email to CalMatters. He called this week’s report “the gold standard.”

LAO’s annual climate policy report series is a must-read. This year’s report focused on electricity sector emissions, with the 2018 reports providing an overview of state climate policy and a deep dive on the transportation sector.
